Q: How is a VISA Check Card different from a credit card?

A: Your VISA Check Card is not a credit card, so you aren’t billed finance charges. We deduct each purchase amount from your checking account and list the details on your monthly statement.

Q: How is a VISA Check Card different from an ATM card?

A: VISA Check Cards are accepted everywhere that VISA is accepted. Look for the VISA logo on windows, displays, registers, of participating merchants. ATM cards, however are only accepted by merchants choosing to install debit swipers.

Q: What should I do if my VISA Check Card is lost or stolen?

A: During normal business hours you should call (423) 272-5800 to report your card lost or stolen. After hours or during weekend hours, you may report your card lost or stolen by call our Telephone Banking line and taking option 7.

Q: Are there transaction fees for using my VISA Check Card?

A: No, there are no transaction fees; however, as with the ATM card, foreign ATM fees still apply.

Q: Can I use my VISA Check Card without a PIN to make purchases?

A: Yes, you can use your Check Card just like you would a credit card. Simply swipe the card, or give it to the salesperson and the sign the receipt. Remember the purchase amount is deducted from your checking account.

Q: How do I activate my VISA Check Card?

A: To activate your VISA Check Card, you will need to do a PIN transaction. We strongly suggest you do a balance inquiry at any ATM location to activate your PIN prior to use.
